I know this is terribly not British to attack one of our national icons but ... I am getting a little tired of the BBC.

The licence fee is compulsory for those of us in the UK yet goes toward content freely available to the world via the web.

Even if we don't want to watch the BBC we have to pay for it. It often relates to a disproportionate part of our television viewing outlay.

It may not show adverts but often the time between programmes is equally long, we just don't have an advert during ... this is mainly good but for what cost?

They go against public opinion by announcing that the word 'gay' now really does mean 'weird' so it's OK for their presenters to use it. This is a meaning derived from probably 'South Park' and so the BBC are now endorsing this as 'British'.

They are OK flouting the no smoking in public buildings policy simply because they say so.

They stopped setting a good example to the nation many years ago yet we are being told to expect our fee to go up to £151 within a few years. This is around £12 per month which we have to pay as they hold the monopoly.

Should the BBC perhaps be put out to tender? Allow other companies to come in with the same budget and remit and see what we end up with?

Why should we pay the equivalent of a standing charge to the BBC when maybe some don't even want to watch their service?

In some ways I like the BBC but over all I find myself just feeling pissed off I have to pay this bill even if I don't want to watch it.

What do I do with the BBC? I use their website. I watch the news occasionally but would be as happy to watch the news on another channel. I occasionally listen to radio 4 but wouldn't miss it.

As a proportion of your TV viewing, how much do you use the BBC and does this relate to your viewing costs?

Is it time for some sort of change?
