photoWriter and computer spod (thankfully doing more of the former after far too long hung up on the latter!). My area of work is the performing arts -- specifically, theatre and television -- and, while I know far too much about the latter, am always looking for people to accompany me to the former! Always interested in meeting new friends, especially those willing to help me celebrate becoming a published author!

Just got back from the press launch to the "Life on Mars" sequel.

Most of the stuff I really want to talk about it is still under embargo, but beware that some tabloids will deliberately find a way to circumvent that, so between now and the first episode (expected approx. Feb 8) you may see details creeping out here and there.

Without breaking the embargo, I can confirm that:

(a) the changed scenario to 1981 works - at least for Gene and Ray; Chris, as Gene's other sidekick, seems to have regressed somewhat in this version;
(b) what happened to Sam Tyler (in both 1970s and 'the real world') is resolved. Or at least, we're led to believe it is...
(c) Keeley Hawes' character Alex also has links to the present, in the same way that the test card girl and the phone calls provided a link for Sam. Only Alex's links are far, far stranger...

Don't think I can say too much else -- other than, if you were worried whether Ashes to Ashes would work as a sequel, most of your fears are likely to be allayed by the end of the first episode.

PS: Matthew McFadyen is well fit. And his real name is Dave.
