Hi,

Time for a bit of shameless self promotion. I've started up a travel blog:

www.nosywombat.com

I'm keen to get some feed back from folks as to whether they like the format etc. and whether they have any suggestions.

It covers my trips over the last few months, which has been to:
* Las Vegas
* Mexico
* Indonesia
* Burma
* Philippines
* Brunei
* Malaysia

Cheers,

Dean.

having started a travel blog - well a blog which probably will have some focus on travel - a few weeks ago, I was quite interested in looking at your nosywombat (love the name, which I can relate to as some of my friends call me wolly wombat)

Your blog is far better organised than mine. I am still learning.

Your approach is a slightly different one in the writing as it concentrates more on facts and info. My way of writing is more diary like.

If I were to track a blog for country information I would use yours rather then mine.

All in all good work and I shall keep an eye on it.

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback.

I'm still trying to find the right format and style for my blog. I tried long stories, but they were just too detailed and I didn't enjoy writing them or reading them. That's why I switched to the current format. After all, it's a blog and not a travel novel, so you have to write stories that are easily digestible in small bites. Then again, I'm a bit worried it comes across as a DIY travel guide book. Oh well.

Your's is looking good. It tells a story, which is good! I suggest you sign up to Google adsense. It's really easy and helps you earn cash. Well, in theory. I've earnt over $5 now! lol

Do you have any favourite travel blogs you read regularly?

Cheers,

Dean.

Dean, no I have never before looked at a travel blog so don't have favourites.

You are right as far as brevity is concerned. For an information focused blog that is important. I am pretty hopeless when it comes to brevity in writing. I remember starting a letter to a friend of mine in Germany telling him about my recent trip (in 1994) to America. At the end it was 72 pages! You could call that a long letter.

I come from the other end so to speak, I like writing and have written this type of travel report for myself and my friends for 30 years. And I do at times refer to them when planning a new trip. The blog idea actually came from my 'readers' of past reports.

I do all the reports in two languages, German and English, as some of my German friends are a bit on the rusty side as far as English is concerned. and it helps me to maintain my German on an up to date level.

But I'll keep an eye on the nosy wombat. Have a good day
