Planning a month's flydrive from SF to LA in September 2010. Do not want to stay in chain hotels, but looking for quirky, unusual places to stay in the cities and between to plan route. Also looking for unusual days out. I have spent 13 weeks in SF over the last few years and have done the regular stuff, now looking for more variety and interest. Trip planned from about 11th September (oh dear) to the 9th October, any ideas ? |

If you're travelling down through the mountains, i stayed in a lovely B&B place called the Hounds Tooth inn, a couple of hours south of Yosemite - very comfy, lovely gardens, a failry remote place |
