photoLife should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - martini in one hand - burger in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "Whooooooo what a ride!"

I was struggling through London yesterday at peak evening time.
Used the marvelous Waterloo & City line and just as we got to Bank the driver announced "I've just been told Bank station is closed, so please leave the train and exit the station".

We got off and headed toward the station so we could go through the station and exit it.
While we were doing this, the automated disembodied Voice of the Station kept announcing "Due to a security alert this station is closed, please leave immediately".
Something didn't seem right about that, and after a moment or two it became blatantly obvious that whatever the reason for the closure of the station, it was NOT a security alert -

(1) If it were then they woudl not have told us to get off the train and go through the station to exit it, they woudl have taken us back to Waterloo for safety;
(2) NONE of the entrances were closed, people were able to walk into the station before being told to leave (many people did just that);
(3) All of the sellers (papers et al) were still at their posts;
(4) All the staff were milling around INSIDE the station.

So, I've no idea what they ACTUALLY closed the station, but it was blatantly NOT a "security Alert".
So my question is this - why do they lie and pretend it is a Security Alert?

(And god help us all if that really WAS their idea of how to evacuate the station in the event of danger!)

I forgot -

(5) All lines going through the station were still running normally, just not stopping at Bank.
