"A Two Together Railcard costs just £28 a year, and could save you and another named cardholder up to £100 each on annual rail travel.

And while this is new card is exclusive to people living in the West Midlands postcode areas of Birmingham (B), Coventry (CV), Dudley (DY), Walsall (WS) and Wolverhampton (WV), it can be used to explore the whole of Great Britain. So its well worth it.

Offers to Share
With a Two Together Railcard, both named cardholders can enjoy loads of great offers from our partners too, with discounts on hotels, eating out and some of the UK's top attractions. Take a look at what's new and keep coming back, as we update our offers all the time.

Using your Railcard
With your Railcard, you and your second named cardholder can save on both long and short trips across Britain. Better still, you can use it anytime on weekends, Public Holidays and during the week. However, you won't be able to get a Railcard discount between 04:30 - 09:30am Monday to Friday (excluding Bank Holidays).

The savings
Your Two Together Railcard will save you 1/3 off all Standard and First Class Anytime, Off Peak and Advance fares across the National Rail network."

"Anyone aged 16 or over is eligible for a Two Together Railcard and you don't have to be related.

However, as this new Railcard is still only on a limited trial the first named cardholder should live in the following postcodes:

Birmingham (B)
Coventry (CV)
Dudley (DY)
Walsall (WS)
Wolverhampton (WV)
So if you do, lucky you!"

I don't know if it's just local to us, but Northern Rail is running a buy-one-get-one-half-price offer on all local service return tickets at the moment.

I think it's a good way to counter the negative press when ticket prices rise.

They've nicked this idea from SNCF. French railways have been operating this scheme for a long time particularly on the TGV's, Thalys and Corrail routes.

It's good to have the opportunity to save money, but I can't help thinking it's poor old single people getting screwed once more.

The couple doesn't need to be living together though - it could be two mates, work colleagues etc.
