Virgin Trains have re-introduced their Print-At-Home service, and one way fares between London and Manchester start from £3.00 single.

The availability is currently last minute, up to 14 September.

Chiltern Trains have also extended their mobile ticketing scheme, where your ticket is actually a bar code that you scan at the gates at the station.

Fares here start from £4.00, on the slightly slower route between Birmingham and Marylebone, but it's a decent enough service for the difference in price.

They also have return tickets from £15.00 which do not have to be prebooked.

There is still MegaTrain too, which has some cheap seats on selected SouthWest Trains to/from London and some limited Virgin Train regional routes. http://www.megatrain.co.uk/uk/index.php - all MegaTrain and MegaBus journeys get lumped in together, so although it appears to offer say, Inverness to London - this will be with MegaBus. Look for the train symbol.
