That was the terrifying reality captured on camera by photojournalist Beiwhart after one of the engines on an Airbus A330 caught on fire during a flight with his wife and children from Singapore to Jakarta."

"In a story for Reuters, the agency's longtime photographer describes how he was drifting to sleep on the Cathay Pacific CX 715 flight on May 16 when two loud bangs 'like a bomb or truck tire blowing out' startled him out of a sleepy haze, and he woke to the tightened grip of his wife's hand. 'Do you smell something burning?' he remembers."
