I went to the (packed) first preview at the Linbury Studio last night - very good - full marks for the wonderful Lez Brotherston set and pleasingly lavish costumes. Cast enthusiastic and well-drilled. A success. But its a short run and the Royal Opera House has a huge mailing list. I saw the cast in the pub afterwards and they were finding it impossible to buy tickets, so it looks like tickets are rarer than hens teeth. Let's hope it transfers, it certainly deserves to. |
