Have been on here for like ... FOREVER but recently had to give it a break because the fees were so steep. Well, I thought ... what the hell and spent my Christmas money on the place just because of the friends I have here and sod all else really. So, what are you waiting for, say hello already! I am running Vista and in my lounge I have a Phillips box which connects to the Windows Media Server of any Vista device on the home network.

Now, I have not tested the other machines but on this one I am lucky if it plays more than 30 minutes of a movie before it 'loses it'

Indeed, I tried the proprietary server which came with the device and that too has the same problem of dropping out after 30 minutes.

As a workaround I have loaded the proprietary server on an XP machine and it works fine. Thing is, it is OK but not as good as the Vista Media Player software and that won't run on XP!

I have checked normal power save functions of this PC several times and cannot find anything which seems to shut down at all. I turned off all power saves and it is always connected to the mains, doesn't have batteries. I checked the network adapter too and turned off any power save on that as well but clearly I am missing something.

Vista is a learning curve for me. I know XP really well but Vista has thrown up some interesting differences and clearly I am missing one of them ... any suggestions?
