photoI normally go through life with my feet in the clouds, and head firmly on the ground. It's more fun that way (although I like to swap ends occasionally). When I've got my feet and head on the ground at the same time, my arse sticks in the air. That can be fun too.

Following on from quickfind:358564 , I thought I'd share the great aftercare advice given by my tattooist (Anastasis Karydas at Titan Tattoo).

There seems to be lots of differing advice on how to get a tattoo to heal succesfully, but it usually involves removing the bandage/cover/clingfilm after a couple of hours, and then using a cream of some sort for a couple of weeks, and DON'T PICK THE SCAB!!!

But Anastasis offered less conventional advice, which I decided to follow since I'd already trusted him to stick needles in me for 3 hours! It worked so well, I thought I'd share...

Remove clingfilm after 2-3 hours, and wash gently with Dove soap (conventional advice so far).

Apply a thin layer of Homeoplasmine ointment (a French herbal thing for irritated skin).

Cover with clingfilm again.

For FOUR days, three or four times each day, remove the clingfilm, wash, apply more Homeoplasmine, and wrap in new clingfilm.

Thereafter, moisturise for 7-10 days (he suggested E45, but I'd already bought Bepanthen nappy-rash cream, so used that).

Result? I never got itchy, and never formed a scab of any sort. As predicted I lost a thin layer of skin, as if I'd had a sunburn, but that was it. No loss of ink, no mess, nothing.

All the tattoed regulars in my local pub have been amazed how well, and how quickly, it's healed. None of them has seen better results with any other aftercare technique.

I'll certainly do the same thing when i get the next tattoo!

Thats quite interesting... but I am assuming that this is only really practical if the tattoo is somewhere thats easily wrapped in cling film. Not all of mine have been for instance - like on my chest or near my armpit etc
