I simply cannot wait for this.

And I think it's going to annoy a lot of Star Trek fans (me included) who will no doubt cry "heresy!!" when they realise much of the film will bear only a passing resemblence to the trek they all know and love / over-analyse.

And I think that's good thing - as it might actually make it a success.

and like you say, nothing wrong with it being heresy as long as it's a good story, in fact so much the better if it upsets the fans and is getting a massive popular audience, just like the returned Doctor Who under RTD...

That would be worth the price of the cinema ticket alone.

But I would insist on IMAX.
