photoFirst off I should warn you I talk endlessly! Lots of things I want to do in life, one of which is to be a writer. I self published my first novel 'Fallen Weapon' in 2007 and it's available from amazon.com. I'd like to break into conventionally published writing in the future. Have had quite a bit of body modification over the years. Love SF/horror. Talk to me!

I've been watching the major Borg episodes in chronolgical order lately. 'First Contact' marks quite a major shift away from the Collective where eveything is equal and interconnected to a hive presided over by the Queen.
It also sees a significant redesign. The Borg in the film look more like zombies and their armour dirtier and more industrial. I was wondering what people though of this new appearance for them? They look menacing, but IMO the black armour and cables of the TNG series Borg were more memorable. They were scary, but wierdly beautiful at the same time, Hugh especially. I think the first design had a greater sense of alieness and lost humanity.

The Queen looks fantastic though. Very Giger-esque. She seems like a being that has existed forever.

When the Borg first appeared they were incredibly scary I thought - these seemingly indestructable beings who spoke as one, and had a ship that couldn't be destroyed.

That continued thru to "The Best of Both Worlds" and Wolf-359. Even then they were scary, and all powerful (even although they were beaten).

I think when they introduced Hugh, they got a 'human' face - which I think took away the scariness factor slightly.

In First Contact I think they looked scarier, but by that time we had had them being beaten by Voyager - which always annoyed me - it was one ship, yet repeatedly managed to defeat much more than an entire Starfleet Armada managed previously. Ok - so it had new technology and the like, but I do think they 'dumbed-down' the Borg to make them easier to beat...

But I still think one of the best entrances I've ever seen is Alica Krieg as the Borg Queen in First Contact - it still gives me goosebumps to watch!
