photoFirst off I should warn you I talk endlessly! Lots of things I want to do in life, one of which is to be a writer. I self published my first novel 'Fallen Weapon' in 2007 and it's available from amazon.com. I'd like to break into conventionally published writing in the future. Have had quite a bit of body modification over the years. Love SF/horror. Talk to me!

Was watching 'Endgame' yesterday and got to wondering how Janeway's interfering in her own timeline would effect the events around her.

She goes back in time to prevent her past self missing a chance to get home. As part of this mission, she uses anti-Borg technology that has apparently been based on her own experiences in the Delta quadrant. But as shhe only possesses that technology as a result of experiences thatr she's now prevented by vcutting short hetr journey, surely they can't ever existed?

Rather more serious, as she's altered her past she has no reason to go back in time. But she has to, becuase the Borg Queen explicitly states that if the younger Janeway dies she'll never be able to come back and infect the Collective with her virus. We seem to be told to assume that the younger Janeway will now have a futrure where she will not come back and sacrifice herself. But the Quueen's statement totally contradicts that. So Janeway wil still have to go back and die, but will she have any reason to now she's changed her future? And of course, the very technology the shield Voyager etc will no longer exist because she won't have had all those experiences that made her such an expert.

It's interesting that Janeway's last line is exactly the same as that at the end of 'Caretaker'. Because by creating such a paradox, she and her ship are more likely to be trapped in an unbreakable mobius loop. Perhaps their journey never ended at all?
