photoIf only everyone listened to me....the world would be such a better place. It probably wouldn't get an awful lot done though, but it would always stand you a round in the pub.

The Bristol Pride Fringe Festival begins this weekend with film screenings of the 21st London Lesbian & Gay Film Festival at the Watershed and Arnolfini, and these films go on throughout the week until the following weekend - visit www.watershed.co.uk for full information.

On Monday 13th, Halo on Gloucester Road plays host to "Acoustic Night", an open-mic evening of live music, featuring the extraordinary talent of local singer-songwriter Benita Johnson. Check out her MySpace site for more: www.myspace.com/benitajohnson. Entrance is free and proceedings kick off at 8pm. Ffi. contact Andi on 07900 432 533 or visit www.acousticnight.com or www.halobristol.co.uk

On Wednesday 15th, we bring The Fast & The Spurious to Oppo} on Park Street, Bristol University's own improvised comedy troupe, who perform stand-up, plays and live music based on audience suggestion! We'll also have poetry from, amongst others, Andi-Langford Woods, whose work covers pivotal points in her life, emotionally and physically, spiritually and sexually, as well as taking an observant view of the lives of others, sometimes humourous, sometimes painful. Not to be missed!

On Saturday 18th, Cycle with Pride! Setting off from Arnolfini at 2pm, it'll be fifteen-mile round trip to Pill, Portbury and Failand back for tea at the Riverside Garden Centre by 4pm. This ride is suitable for inexperienced/infrequent cyclists. You can push your bike up the few hills on this route and there'll be plenty of stops for you to take in the lovely views. Experienced cyclists are, of course, welcome too. Ffi. email: bristol@cycleout.org.uk or text: 07802 422 091

In the evening, Bristol's only gay girls club night - Club GU - comes to the Hatchet on Frogmore Street, with resident DJ Alex R playing the latest dance and chart hits. Entry £4 and doors open at 9pm - http://www.clubgu.co.uk/da/40196 for more info.

Sunday 19th brings Fringe week to a fabulous close with our most ambitious event yet! Hit Redcliffe's new Urban Beach from 1pm till sundown, where London's very own Bootylicious, the night for polysexual guys and girls, will be bringing the latest in hiphop, RNB, dancehall, soca and reggaeton to Bristol! There'll also be informational stalls from the LGB Forum and Freedom Youth. Food & drink will be available from Bordeaux Quay & Pie Minister kiosks.

Please do spread the word to anyone who might be interested and support the Fringe! See you there...
