I was with a friend in the H&M in Birmingham (New St.) yesterday, trying on a hoodie top, cos I is a chav innit.

Anyway, I went to have a look at myself in one of the full length mirrors, and the top really suited me. In fact, I looked a little too good in it. It seemed as if I'd lost a bit of weight, and (joy of joys!) the top made me look slightly taller, too.

I almost grabbed three of these tops and sprinted to the tills, waving my debit card and shrieking, but something stopped me. My friend (who is taller and thinner than me, the bugger) also looked even taller and thinner in this mirror.

The horrible truth dawned. They have convex mirrors in H&M that MAKE YOU LOOK TALLER AND THINNER WHEN YOU'RE NOT! What a naughty thing to do! Presumably we are fooled (as I nearly was) into thinking their clothes make us look better than we do, and buy lots of stuff that quite possibly just makes you look dumpy (like me).

How can they get away with this? It's not really very nice, is it? Should I go all "Watchdog" and ring Trading Standards? Do other shops do this? I'd never heard of this despicable trickery before.

The diet's going quite well, thank you.

That's crap :S

Although I could do with one...... I was cleaning today, and as I was doing the shower I took my shirt off (twas easier than my tshirt getting wet...). Anyhoos... I did the mirror in the en-suite after, and caught sight of myself (normally I don't have my glasses on, and the mirror has been dirty so I don't see much...).

I didn't like what I saw :S. I think I've gotten fatter and shorter. Boo!

No, clearly you've just got a convex mirror. Go immediately to Ikea and buy a new flatter one.

Wouldn't it be concave... I think tho a better approach would be to get rid of all mirrors entirely. Then I wouldn't have to look in one....
