I've had my bread making machine for about 2 years now and bake my own bread two or three times a week.

The recipe book that came with the breadmaker is crap and none of the recipes come out as they're supposed to, many are bland or too sweet or just too weird.

I ended up formulating my own recipes which aren't bad and a lot better than any in the recipe book.

WHOLEMEAL Hi FIBRE BREAD WITH OATS

My recipe for a 2lb Loaf is:

2 cups of wholemeal flour
1 cup of Porridge Oats
1 cup of warm water
* 1 egg
1.5 teaspoons salt
3 teaspoons demerara sugar
1/2 teaspoon dried yeast
100mg Vitamin C Tablet crushed
2 tablespoons sunflower oil

Run on the setting for a standard 2lb wholmeal loaf

* The egg seems to add a nice cakey type moist texture to the bread.

My own recipe for White Bread is the same as above but using white flour.

The bread that I'm making today is White with added cranberries, pecan nuts and freshly grated nutmeg. It smells absolutley heavenly in the kitchen and will be ready in about an hour!

So, anyone have any basic recipes for Wholemeal Bread and for White Crusty Bread and also if it's possible a White Soft Bread,

Also - just rememebered my best mate Jamie is Scottish and has been looking for a recipe for what they call "Plain Bread" it's very close textured and quite heavy but tasted really nice but have never yet found a recipe for it.
