An ex mate of mine has fallen out with me & came to my door a couple of weeks ago in an abusive manner.
The person in question has Organic Personality Disorder due to an accident he had when he was 12 yrs old.He lives 2 doors from me & i had known him for around 6 years. He is on several types of medication for his illness & is not supposed to drink alcohol but has done so,making him aggressive. He has also regularly taken cocaine which together with the alcohol greatly affects his personality.
I felt it necessary to contact the Police & the housing association after he came to my front door shouting.
I now dont feel safe living there but the housing association are not prepared to move me.I have since been staying at a place run by the charity Turning Point but they can only accomodate people for up to 10 days maximum, though they are offering me external help at the moment.
I have since been in touch with a solicitor who is writing to my housing association stressing extenuating circumstances. The housing are saying i have to be in my flat 12 months before they will consider me for a transfer elsewhere.
As iam in receipt of Income Support & Disability Living Allowance due to me having clinical depression, i cannot find any accomodation that accepts housing benefit.
Due to me feeling unsafe staying there does anyone know what else i can do please?
I have been a good tenent by the way, thank you.

as long as you have the money to cover you in between your claims for housing benefit then you shouldn't have to tell your landlord you are on them if you go through a private landlord

previous landlord refrences should be enough
