32% Labour (down 5)

40% Conservative (up 4)

16% LIb Dem (no change)

11% Other (no change)

What I think interesting about this poll is that an 8 point lead for the Conservatives is the largest in a Populus poll since the Cameron Bounce earlier in the year. It is also the highest ever that the Conservatives have polled in a Populus poll (they were 39% in July). However, at the same time, the Conservatives are failing to take the lead on key policy areas, notably, the NHS which has been at the forefront of Cameron rhetoric, and housing. It seems interesting that if the government is as unpopular as these figures claim they are, that the public still trust the Government on such core issues. So its mixed news really.

Very good for the Conservatives - but not quite as good as one might expect?
