I'm looking at buying a camcorder for my brother and his wife as they are just about to have a baby.

I know nothing about them though and my brother is a complete novice. I've seen the Canon DC100 which seems to compare quite well with others at a similar price. It records direct on to DVD is that good or bad?

Any other tips or recommendations will be gratefully received.

hi bob if you just want shots on to disc via camcorder
its better you get a
JVC digital Camcorder i have have had my on for 4 1/2 years and have had lots of fun

it easy just point and film
admititaly i iam now making short film with wedding and charity events

and i have digital DVD recoder then you edit your own film and can copy from computer
with Nero Burner 6
