photoAt twenty-five the Devil felt compelled to take a rest, but the Widow cried, "Come raise your head, and put me to the test!" At sixty-nine, the Widow laughed. "Again! Again!" she cried, and the Devil said, "Well, I can see just how your husband died!"

So I'm running a training icebreaker for a group of 30 (thanks to those who helped me in my previous thread). The icebreaker entailed keeping your eyes closed.

We have one blind person in the group, Betty, who has a happy and friendly demeanour. As I herded people to the centre of the room, I joked, "No cheating anyone, especially you Betty!"

She laughed and joked along, but after the event I had about three people come and tell me how from 'how risqué' to 'how wrong' it was.

I didn't see the harm in it whatsoever, and would like to think that if I were a blind person, I'd be fed up of those who kept my blindness taboo and something not talked about in everyday chat and jest. I understand some people are more reserved and I wouldn't have said anything if I'd felt that was the case.

What do you think?

Hmm its one of those things I guess.

If I was you, I'd go up to Betty tomorrow and tell her you didn't mean any offence, and see what her take on it was.

She might have genuinely found it funny, and people are just getting offend for the sake of it (as we must get offended if people crack jokes about disability don't you know!).

Clearly you had already developed a good rapport with Betty and recognise there are limits - in which case, no problem at all in a little light-hearted banter.
