I'm into walking a lot - yesterday I did a 22 mile round-trip into the centre of York just for a few groceries - but I am increasingly coming across more and more horrific and scary finds on my jaunts.

A few weeks ago I went for a walk and, on exiting a particular area, found a sign pointing the other way saying that I shouldn't enter the area as there were explosives lying around (but I'd just walked through that very area). Last week I was walking in the hills of Scotland and came across this sign:

And yesterday, on my epic grocery-shopping return journey, I was on a disused railway line and somewhere along the scariest most remote part, as the sun was going down around 9pm and no-one else was visible for miles around, I came across this hanging from the tree next to the footpath:

The poor ole bunny's legs had clearly been knotted above the branch so it was obvious it hadn't got there due to an accident in aerial aerobic manoevres of its own choosing. Yes, it was dead, but its eyes were open.

I have therefore become accustomed to every single long-distance walk I take having something utterly bizarre and unbelievable on the route. I'm wondering if this is a freakish set of occurrences that only happens to me, or whether other people that go hill walking, hiking, mountain climbing, etc also come across such disturbing signs and portents of doom...

I was always a bit concerned by the "Danger: bear in area" signs in Alaska
