Hi Guys & Gals

I looked to see if there were any current climbing threads but there doesn't seem to be to much?

I would like to have a common place where we can share experiences of climbing centres or crags and maybe compare knots............

Basically, I would call myself a beginner (even though I have done bits and pieces over the last ten years) and I would like to share any experience anybody else has had.

I currently climb at the Elmbridge leisure centre where they have about 20 top ropes and two auto belays on a 13 metre wall.

It is pretty good but sometimes it doesn't have the variety I want as often I am climbing with people who cannot yet belay me (People I am literally showing the ropes to!) so climb on the auto belays. I quite like showing new people the basics as I know what a buzz it is when you are starting out (It doesn't feel that long ago for me due to my current level of ability!!!!)

Anybody climb at elmbridge or know of anywhere nearby that is good.

Otherwise please feel free to share any experiences you have

Cheers

Dave

I started climbing this time last year and I had only climbed a few times before in the cubs. I go to the manchester, and rochdale climbing centres. I have climbed outside a few times and I am looking forward to doing it again this year.

Hooray, It was starting to feel lonely in here!

It's a funny sport isn't it.

I find I become quite obsessive about routes I have half completed and will be thinking about how I can approach it right up until I get to the wall again.

Are the climbing walls up your way OK?

I find that it seems alright around here but I need to explore a bit further as I am lucky enough to have a few around London.

I have started to become more obsessive about routes now. I didn't used to because my arms just to ache when I pushed myself too much (I think it was the tendons in my arms). The manchester climbing centre has loads of routes which are changed on a regular basis. I have started doing 6a routes, but I often have to cheat in some places. There is a good climbing website www.climbinguk.com which contains loads of info and there is a forum so you can look for climbing partners.
