Pay for the water when you start to feel better

People don't believe me that I am shy face-2-face, despite being a right cheeky monkey on some Forums. Orginally from the West Country, but transplanted to Reading in early 90s. Joined OUT for both Gay Male & Female friends, to break the feelings of isolation after the breakup of a long term relationship.

This lunch time I was in the Sainsburys in Reading Town Centre when the lady in front of me started to feel unwell. The Cashier was fantastic giving her his seat and asked for a First Aider to come, which he buzzed for twice as they hadn't appeared, he even buzzed for his female Supervisor to come and sit with the lady whilst he finished what he was doing. He was trying to clear those people who had emptied out their baskets and close down the till so the lady could have some privacy. I was very impressed how he dealt with the situation, despite trying to clear other customers shopping, he kept talking to the lady and kept trying to get some help for her, and apologising to customers in the queue explaining what was happening.

He buzzed twice for a First Aider asd they were taking ages to appear, when they arrived they were uncaring and unsmpathetic. The lady explained that she had recently had Flu and had come out as she needed supplies, but still didn't feel well. She was feeling faint and asked for a few minutes to gather herself. But what really pissed me off was that the Cashier asked colleagues to get the lady some water and explained why, the first person said 'I'm going on lunch, can't it wait', the second said 'I'm busy, can't someone else do it'. The cashier then called over to another lad who was unpacking boxes nearby, who just carried on unpacking after being asked. So the cashier then asked him again. The lad slowly went and got a small bottle of water and brought it back, he then wanted the lady to pay for it. The First Aider repeated to the lady how much the water would cost her. The poor cashier looked incredibly exbarrased and said couldn't she pay for it later when she felt better.

I offered to pay for her water but because the cashier had rung up my bill it couldn't be added. I sadly had to move away at that point, but I was disgusted with Sainsburys First Aider and the unhelpful lads unwilling to assist. Full credit to the cashier, but his colleagues had alot to learn about in customer care.

such a caring company - at least one member of staff had the right attitude - let's all shop at caring/sharing sainsbury's - and hope you don't fall ill.
