photoI want to say I was raised in the 1980's above a Soho Strip joint by Beryl Reid and Quentin Crisp. I want to say that everything I've learnt about life was taught to me by Video Nasties and MTV. I want to say that gallant men across the land seek my embrace and fight duels for my favour.

Were there clues to your eventual homosexuality?

Last night in the Pub we were chatting about how, in retrospect, the kind of children we were clearly suggested we were walking a different path from many of our heterosexual peers.

For example I remember spending hours cutting pictures of jewels out of my Nan's old copies of Harpers & Queen. I remember lots of glossy photos from Knightsbridge jewellers and I would sit for hours as a 9 year old and carefully cut them out and paste them into scrap books.

Looking back I can see that rather than climbing trees and wanting to play football (all of which I despised and was useless at) I was far more interested in these 'femmine' pursuits.

One of the girls their last night said the same. She couldn't understand why the stuff girls did was so boring. Unlike me all she wanted to do was play football and climb trees all the time.

I remember never being interested in the kind of games the boys played in the playground. I always wanted to play with the Girls. Their conversations seemed more interesting, their games more entertaining.

I should have known then really that I was going to grow up to by a proper fairy...
