Gracie Fields a good Lancashire lass from Rochdale and a another great Lancastrian George Formby from Wigan who in one of his songs is the Lancashire Torreador hence my nickname.

The Beatles and Cilla, The Zutons and Take That, Shane Ward and Oasis, and Melanie S and Claire Sweeney. Atomic Kitten.

Brookside, and grandads pudding aka Bread and Corrie. Lancashire has brought so much brillant things to the region and to the UK.

Liverpool Lancashires great port at the martime museum with the brigewater canal and the great mill owners like Richard Arkwright made Lancashire strong and prosperous.

Lancashire has wonderful dishes, Breakfast barms, Sarnies or Butties. In Manchester my home town I heard the slang whalley range = change lol recently

Hot Pot, Scouse, Everton Toffee, Manchester Tart. Chorley Cakes, Eccles cakes.

We also have great Lancashire Cheese which you can get creamy or chalky.

Then there is the Duchy of lancaster the Great girls and boys of the Queen's Lancashire and Duke of Lancaster regiments.

Then there is the great football teams Man UTD, Liverpool, Everton. Wigan, Bolton and Blackburn.

I of course can't forget Lancashires cricket team which plays in Old Trafford Manchester.

The Tarafford Centre has loads of Lancashire Red Roses over it showing the County it is in. And the disabled pass now has the Lancashire rose on it in Merseyside and Mancs, this is of course also the English rose hehe.

People say oh Merseyside and Greater Manchester are not Lancashire BUT we share the same regiments and Cricket team. Furthermore the Stagecoah bus company offers a daily ticket or monthly ticket called the Lancashire day or Lancashire gold rider for a month which takes you from say Blackpool or Lancaster for example to Liverpool or Manchester.

In Chorley the home of Chorley cakes and chorley FM hehe The bus station has a huge sign saying Lancashire a place where everyone matters, then at the train station there is a huge rose below the British Rail Sign and the sign post as you enter welcome to Lancashire a place where everyone matters and wait for it at the round about there is another sign saying lancshire chorley a market town I remember rightly though I think this is grate( Pronunced) It shows administratively speaking you are in the last town or admin lancs lol. But I know that not to be true hehe.

I am a mancunian first, then Lancastiran then British. Something Lancashire also has as the BCC nativity showed last Christmas and the Manchester Passion showed a few years ago a strong catholic community.

Lancashire now have their own Lancashire Tea brewed in Whittle - le woods nr warrington also part of the Lancashire. The county Boundry stops at the Mersey.

I was very sadded to hear of the abolishment of Cheshire county Council something which would not have happened on Lancashire or even Hertfordshire my second home.

This debabate is to talk about great Lancashire or to say what may not be so great.

I think contribuations from all the cities and the main big ones like Manchester and Liverpool, would be fab.

Maybe this will spark interest in other outers to discuss their own county, a Book I highly recommend is Russel Grant's Real Counties of Great Britain.

Mancs is lancs hehe ;)
