I am being given a gift of up to £500 from my MD for my service in the workplace :)

So, being that I love music and would love to play it well, I am looking to spend it on a guitar. I learned to play up to about Grade 2 way back, and played some since then, but have tragically not even picked one of in the last year or so.

My knowledge of what constitutes a 'good guitar', and what contitutes a 'good guitar for me' is not so good. I would go out and try loads out but I need to do this quickish and as it needs to be put on card it seems buying online is the only way.

So I am appealing to the OUTers of the world to give me some advice on which to get. Some things I'm thinking are:

• Being it affordable, I'd like a good quality make that'll last and produce a betetr sound than a training guitar, for instance. I have been previously advised that Tanglewood is a good make
• I like the idea of an electro-acoustic guitar, but do these play as normal acoustic guitars when 'unplugged'?
• Whether to get a steel or nylon stringed guitar. I had thought nylon was for training guitars and not to produce a different sound! So far, steel has always sounded better to me - what are the advantages and disadvantages?

One that has stood out so far is: http://www.bonnersmusic.co.uk/buy/Tanglewood/TW45_NS_B_Electro_Acoustic_Guitar

Any comments or suggestions gratefully received.

I know nothing helpful ... but when you get it will you stand outside my bedroom window and marinade me with a love song?
