forwardtherapySun 31/10/10 18:00		Ok, this is for anyone who appreciates Aussie accents (and thinks the one in my video sounds too muddled with British!)... and likes Darren Hayes / Savage Garden. Hayes and I both come from Brisbane, which was a pretty tough place to be growing up gay in the 80's. Until the end of that decade, homosexual sex was illegal and if convicted could lead one to 14 years imprisonment. But apart from all that, there was almost no support for gay people, especially not young gay men. I like Hayes, I think he has tried more and more to be true to himself and follow his heart in life. Here is his message to young LGBT people... with aussie accent!

Sure, it was only 1990 (okay that's 20 years ago, but I was there and it doesn't seem so long ago! And not so long relative to other places). Here is Nick Ward (we were in the gay group at uni together) talking about the need to change the law back in 1990...
