I am so excited about this! The last time I saw Clannad live was way back in 1996 for their 'Lore' tour. I have been to see the lead singer, Moya Brennan, performing her solo work many times since. But the family together is a very special thing. Their sound is evocatively atmospherical, using multivocal harmonies coupled with a modern Irish flavour. Moya's voice is unique and immediately distinguishable, suiting the Clannad sound perfectly.

For those who don't know of Clannad, they are a family band (currently) comprised of two siblings and two uncles. Hailing from Donegal, they started out in 1973 as a folk band, singing predominantly in the Irish Gaelic language and reworking traditional Irish songs from around their area.

At first they were discouraged from singing Gaelic songs as it was deemed unfashionable, but they continued regardless remaining loyal to their heritage.

Their big break came in 1982 with their album 'Magical Ring' which contained the hauntig song 'Theme from Harry's Game'. This song made it to #5 in the UK charts, and remains the only song sung entirely in Gaelic to achieve such chart success.

Since that time, Clannad's sound evolved through folk/rock, jazz and eventually into a celtic/new age genre.

Notably, Clannad and Moya have collaborated with renowned artists such as Bono of U2, Bruce Hornsby and Paul Young. Clanad have often had their music used on TV and films, including the 'Robin of Sherwood' series, 'Patriot Games', 'Last of the Mohicans' and 'Message in a Bottle'.

Former bandmate, Pól Brennan has since moved on to concentrate his own musical projects, and Eithne Brennan, better known as Enya had gone on to pursue her very successful solo career after joining Clannad for a couple of albums and a tour in the early 80s.
