photoLooking for friends (and more) to do life with. I've some good mates already, but you can never have too much of a good thing. Except life & pavlova. And like Einstein, I'm not sure about the former...

At 1.30 yesterday I left for Sunrise festival near Yeovil, expecting to be there by 7 and set up by 8. I was already running an hour late.

Get to the station with plenty of time to spare and find out that the fast train has been delayed by 20 minutes, and the all-stops train that would have got in 10 minutes later has just left. The next all-stops train breaks down in the station, so I decide to wait for the fast train, which we're then told will now by 50 minutes late - so I get on the next all-stops. Which, being the same train-set as the previous cancelled service, breaks down at the next station.

I eventually get to Waterloo station 2 hours late, with literally seconds to spare before I the next train to Yeovil leaves - and miss it. Catch the next one and meet up with a cute bi hippy and we have a great 2-hour chat all the way down. Get to Yeovil at 7.40 and take the bus to the town centre where there's a shuttle bus to the site. Literally just as we're getting into the town centre I get a call from a mate already at the site, "Festival's been cancelled because the site's too waterlogged - they're telling us all to go home."

A police CSO turns up and tells us we can camp in a field behind a nearby leisure centre for the night, since some of us can't get home that late. A guy who was on my train and lives in London offers his sofa for the night to a bunch of us who'd all be stuck in London if we returned then, so we decide to head back to the station.

The 8.20 train has been delayed by 45 minutes because of the weather. So one guy gets out a guitar, and girl grabs a violin, and we have a mass jamming session right there on the platform - which then continues all the way back to Waterloo. I just love festival people - they're so damned determined to have a good time!

All the same, boo-hiss to mother nature.
