A topic from Body, Health & Wellbeing: Muscle Gain and Bodybuilding

I tried a different setup today, namely resting for 3 minutes between sets. Frankly it was dead boring and I ended up reducing it to 2. On the positive side, it did seem to enable me to push myself harder on calf raises but I didn't really notice much other effect.

What does anyone else do?

Also sets...I tend to do a minimum of 3 sets, or 2 for abs. Thoughts on more or less? And reps...started off doing 8 but a friend's personal trainer recommended 10. I'm not sure this would make a lot of difference, personally...

I have always been taught that it is better to do lots of smaller sets rather than a few large ones.

So in theory it would be better to do 6 sets of 5 rather than 3 of 10...not sure how true this is though. You have to feel some kind of 'burn' within the set for it to have benefit surely?
