I've been going to the gym for a while and i've been curious about taking a protein supplement as I am a strict vegetarian.

I'm not really looking to bulk up as such, just tone and increase definition. I'd like a lean look as i'm pretty slim.

Does anyone else use this Product? or is it a waste of money/placebo/a case of the emperor's new clothes?

If a fool and his money were easily parted it's me!

IMO you're usually better off just watching what you eat, and choosing foods that are high in protein. The trick is to to make sure you have a good balance of amino acids and vitamins and, unless you're working out or have just done so, avoid combining both fat and carbohydrates in a single meal - otherwise the insulin boost you get from eating carbs will send any fat you eat straight to your fat cells.

The best sources of plant protein are soya beans, at 30%, and stone-pine nuts at 34%. Wheat, peanuts and lentils all have around 25% protein, and most other grains, nuts and beans have 15%-20%. Coconut, rice and maize all have very little protein. With the exception of soya beans, quinoa and buckwheat, pulses and grains need to be combined to get the right balance of amino acids. Nuts tend to be high in both fat and carbs, which makes them ideal for work-out snacks.

Eggs are 10% fat, 13% protein. Egg whites are 10% protein, while egg yolks are 30% fat 20% protein. Most dairy products have low levels of protein - usually around 4%. Cheeses are the exception, however they usually contain more fat than protein: cheddar is 25% protein 35% fat, halloumi is 20% protein 25% fat, etc.
