the equivalent phone
My eldest son dropped the younger sons phone in toilet - no i dont know why it was in toilet - and its beyond economical repair

It is covered by accidental damage and they have offered a motorola as they can not get a V800

My son wants a sony ericcson which takes the produo memory stick, he has a 1gB one and has same functions as his V800 what would you suggest would be comparable and remember the insurance company are only going to replace like for like

If the one your son wants costs more he could offer to put some money towards it. :0)

The elder son should pay, not the younger one - it was he who broke the phone in the first place. This happened with my brother and I (he decided to paint my school shoes with mum's nail polish, which she then couldn't remove) and, when he couldn't pay the money back, he got fewer gifts at Christmas (the money saved paid for the new shoes). He screamed and ranted and raved (as only little brothers can) but he was stuck with it and he *never* did anything like that again - and neither did I.

Why do children need mobile phones anyway? We managed quite happily without them!

The world is a differnt place now to when you were a kid! Mobile phones didn't really even exist, no internet, email was very very basic. No computers, the very idea of a flat screen was something out of sci fi comic books.

I hate the "when I was young" arguement.

Not that different.

Mobiles did exist, my school had PC's as well as BBC's, the internet was okay but not like today, and while no one had e-mail it did exist if you had Compuserve or AOL.

I just think that if kids weren't allowed phones until they were 18 (like cigarettes and alcohol) then they'd have an easier time of it at school.

I agree with the sentiment that he could put some money towards it - or his brother will - but still need a comparable phone

Was hoping i could look at specs and find a phone that is similar

He was quite definite he doesnt want a Motorola and as a SE phone I totally agree

If you got to www.sonyericsson.co.uk and then in the search box tpe in v800 it'll find the phone. Then check the specs and compare to whats on the marketplace.

Well it is really!! Even when I was a kid it was completely different! Mobile phones were huge, expensive, bricks for business users, they weren't the slim, small devices with mp3 players and cameras that you get now.

PCs were not the big consumer devices they are now, you did not find them in every home and able to do teh wide array of things that they do now.

This is an era of technology and gadgets and it is only natural that kids want to take advantage of that.

That's evil :(. I've had mine about a year and a half - so I think I'll be ok to upgrade when I have the money for it :)

#210865Wed 17/10/07 09:05

so I think I'll be ok to upgrade when I have the money for it

But they're free if you take a reasonable package. I'm now on a £40 a month 12 month tarrif and got it free. And if I had agreed to go on an 18 month tarrif it would have been cheaper monthly, however I like to replace my phone annually, so decided to stick with the 12 month one.

Yeah but I hardly use the call and text allowance on my £25 package, so there is no point in me upgrading to a more expensive one just for a phone....

But I might go into the shop and see what offers they have....

The jammy wee sod has ended up with a W910i and we can get a new memory card as well
