photoHullo. 40 year old guy living in Feltham and working in Central London. On OUT to make new friends and, hopefully, meet that special someone. Laid back, friendly, reasonably funny when I want to be. Interested in the usual; music, movies, following Rugby League and non league football.

I've just bought myself a new phone on a contract with T-Mobile. It's one of their Flext plans which gives you a nominally inflated value bundle which you can use any way you want split across calls, SMS and MMS.

The one thing that is not included is Voicemail retrieval which is charged out of bundle - which I believe is the case with a lot of network operator bundles.

Anyway, T-Mobile were very helpful on the phone and gave me a tip which is pretty obvious but I still hadn't thought of it.

That is; if you're on a plan like that, change your voicemail retrieval number to your own mobile number rather than the network shortcode.

That way as far as the network is concerned you are making an "in bundle" call to a mobile and it will come out of your inclusive allowance.

As I say, not the most staggering bit of news ever - but it'll save me a few quid over the month - so thought I'd pass it on.

On O2 you used to be able to dial your own mobile number from any other phone, enter * during the message, enter your PIN and retrieve your voicemail. I presume this will work from your own mobile, and would, therefore, count as a bundled call.

Yeah, you have to interrupt your outgoing message with * and then type in your PIN - it's the same sequence as accessing your VM from a landline phone.
