If you ever used the Gaydar iPhone app you'll know what a shambles it was. Awful interface, poor functionality, totally un-iphone-like.

But they obviously listened to the complaints, because the new version, out today, is brilliant. Looks good, works really well, and you could pretty much never use Gaydar on your computer again. All the functionality is here - plus Grindr-like location aware searching!

Actually Grindr/Qrushr/Maleforce/Bender et al need to pull their fingers out now.

Remind me how we coped with being gay before the iPhone ;-))

well young man, take a seat, just over there, please and listen to a little story from this old (wise) man

You know, there was a time - shortly after we moved out of the cave and into something called house - there were occasionally some houses around which were frequented by friendly young(ish) men who came together for a drink and a chat.

By the way this was about at the time when the president of IMB, I forgot his name, a very astude businessman with a clear view of the future opined that the world - the entire world mind you - would probably, in the long term, have the need for 4 or 5 computers.

but back to the little house I mentioned before. If you went there for a drink, you greated the, some, most of the young(ish) men already in congregation and chatting. you smiled at a few of them, struck up an eminently meaningful conversation with a couple of them until you got really talking to one of them. Jokingly you might have tapped on his bum and took him by his upper arm, to turn him around, just a little bit.

and then, after a few hours of enjoying each other's company you would mention that you might consider going home now soon, to your little house not far from here, which you inhabit all by yourself with no other person involved and that you just remembered the nice bottle of wine in the friddge which you so much looked forward to having a glass of and how nice it would be to share this and a few more moments with another man just like the one you were talking to.

you went to the barmen, paid the drinks of both of you and off you went.

Now back to the iPhone and being gay......

The interface is far more "familiar" now. I notice there's a log-off button now too.
