"Google and HTC have begun rolling out the Android 2.2 update for the Wildfire smartphone, technology news website Product Reviews reported on Monday.

HTC's Wildfire, effectively a mini version of the company's Desire smartphone, comes highly integrated with social networking platforms including Facebook and Twitter."

I haven't got an update yet.

Does anyone know if the "Portable Wifi Hotspot" is going to be included in the Wildfire update? (It is in the Desire).

I've got an HTC Innovation. Do you think it will be available to all HTCs with Wildfire. While it sincs well with my email (Gmail) it is a pain to use as a browser.

From what I know it is getting all the 2.2 features, including the wifi hotspot. I know this won't apply to you, but it in only unlocked phones which will get the update. Phones locked to a network won't be updated for another couple of weeks.

The HTC Innovation doesn't run on Android so it won't be getting this update.

According to my phone it does. The widget which says 'download Android apps' made me assume, didn't know or care but a friend looked at it and said it was. Maybe its a Hero.. not sure!

hahaha. The HTC Innovation was another name for the HTC Advantage which is a really old Windows Mobile tablet/phone thing

This is the HTC Hero

The Hero is an Android phone, but I doubt you will be getting version 2.2 anytime soon. HTC have only just upgraded it to 2.1.

Thanks :-)

After having it for a year I'm only just beginning to get the hang of it. Battery about to die too.. lasts a day if I use the phone a lot. Any idea where to get a cheap replacement?

I should shoot myself for not getting an iphone.

The battery on an iPhone is no better. If you use it a lot it'll only just last a working day - and that's just for voice calls. Use the other stuff (maps, apps, games) and it'll last you about 6 hours.
