I regularly enter the five.tv Gadget Show prize bundle, which offers around £15,000 of crackin' gadgets every week.

In one of those brainless "What colour is milk..." type questions, I text or call, shelling out my £1.50 and crossing my fingers.

Recently, I thought to myself "I wonder how many people enter this competition" so I could rationalise my chances of winning. Of course, they don't reveal this on the competition entry site, so I wrote to Five to ask.

Here's the reply I got

Dear Bob

Thank you for your recent enquiry regarding The Gadget Show.

Unfortunately, for reasons of commercial sensitivity, we are unable to
provide details on the total number of entries we receive for the
programme's competition each week.

If there is anything further we can help you with, please do not
hesitate to contact us.

I thought they had an obligation of transparency with competitions these days, with the likes of 'QuizCall' and 'The Mint' forced to display how many people they had entries from, etc.

Am I mistaken? Is their revelation completely voluntary?
