As we are now well in to our last Summer bank holiday of the year , it got me remembering past bank holidays.

6 Years ago in June 2002 it was the queens jubilee bank holiday in that we had a 4 day weekend a bit like easter to celibrate. As you may remember we ended up having the monday 3rd June and tuesday 4th June off as a one off special. I remember being very sad that I had no plans that weekend.

As things turned out I did DIY on the saturday, not much on the sunday and ended up going to a classica car show in Enfield as I was so lonely and depressed I just wanted to go somewhere. The show was intersting but the weather was dry but overcast. I wandered round stalls looked at cars but when I got back to my car to go home I just felt so isolated, and really believe i would spend the rest of my bank holidays along. That night i got home and relaxed and watch tv. A gay guy I knew called me just to have sex and I nearly said yes and then I thought, no way. That night I decided to get on with sorting my life out and i did.

I wont go into details of what happend next as its down to getting up and going something. The week after I joined a social group (str*) and things took off from there. 6 Years later Im married and for now never need to be alone on a bank holiday again.

I dont know if anyone else feels like this, this bank holiday weekend????

Dave very interesting story... sure you aren't the only one who has occasionally been in that mental place... I certainly have had similar moments!

I often make a point of getting on with something if I'm at a loose end- gardening, going for a coffee, doing some DIY, jogging going for a walk in the country- whatever, and even though it can be tough getting going rather than hiding under a duvet or sitting in front of the TV, I always find it puts me in a good frame of mind... even if I'm doing it by myself.

Hope your marriage is going well and you have a great weekend.

That's a good story. I hope I'm lucky enough for it to happen to me, but I doubt it will. You see I feel like that every weekend, and I don't even get the offer of sex!!!

I can't really put into words how I feel. At times the isolation is so bad I feel like just jacking life in. How much longer can this go on? Although I know a lot of people through groups I'm involved with I don't have any mates to hang out with, and I certainly don't have any gay friends I can go out for a drink with. The more I try to meet people the worse it seems to get. There are no gay venues in this town so meeting local gay chaps is nigh on impossible. I also find it difficult to talk to people. As I've been like this all my life the problem is obviously with me. I do have a very low opinion of myself but that's another issue.

I hope you continue to be happy and you and your chap live to be a ripe old age together! x
