How does one sell a gemstone?

Going through my parents' possessions, I found among my father's a small envelope with something written on it that I have difficulty reading but, more legibly, the words, "Retail value £60". Inside the envelope I found a small bag containing a tiny gem of some description. My guess is that my father bought it twenty or so years ago, probably to give to my mother but never got round to having it mounted in jewellery. I'm not sure what the gem is but I think it's an opal. It's so small that I'd like to sell it, as I think I might otherwise lose it. |

Photograph it and sell it on Ebay Better chance of someone liking it and then bidding for it |
