Intelligent, open-minded , kind, experienced ,easy- going bear/chubby on a diet. Interested in languages (learning Italian at the moment), yoga and spirituality, philosophy, travel, classical music and opera, art , theatre ,cinema, world literature, cookery etc. Enjoy a good laugh. Am also very idealistic and long to help build a better, friendlier gay community.

Is it wonderful that this site has been set up? I am very interested in yoga and meditation and discussing the benefits of both, and long to find soul mates on Out who can understand where I'm coming from.

Generally speaking, I find discussions about religion and spirituality on Out very off putting, since they tend to revolve around the existence/ non-existence of God, and why religion is or is not superstitious shit, or new testament studies e.g. did jesus really exist etc?. I find all these discussions very left -brain orientated, never seeming to get anywhere.

To me, what gives my life ultimate meaning is my inner subjective experiences gained through meditation, rather than belief in an external deity. Even if such a being existed, which showed that the universe had a purpose, it doesn't automatically follow that my life has purpose as well.

On a more day-to day basis, what I like about my meditation practice is the way it helps me to experience other people as they are in the 'now' rather than constantly wondering what they think about me, or what I should be saying to impress them.

Meditation also gives me a heightened awareness of music and art.

I would be very interested to hear from other Outers who are into meditation , who feel they may be on the same wave length as me.
