People don't believe me that I'm shy face-2-face, despite being cheeky on Forums. Orginally from the West Country, but been living in Reading for 16 years. I tend to be a bit of a workaholic, but I've learnt my lesson and getting out more and relaxing, thanks to good friends. I am into the arts & crafts, doing & seeing, including theatre, cinema, etc. Joined OUT for both Gay Male & Female friends.

I have recently finished reading Openly Gay Openly Christian- How the Bible Really is Gay Friendly, by Rev. Samuel Kader WOW what an amazing and inspirational book!!!

I very highly recommend it for its clear language and that you can find out what is really contained in the Bible regarding homosexuality and gay relationships, the results are truely surprising and eye opening. I realised how much I have been brain washed and mislead about the famous clobber statements, especially Sodom. Not only does it explain fully these famous extracts that are quoted, but also highlights extracts that are never discussed, ie Jonathan who was probably not only gay but in love with the same man (David) as his suster. Both brother & sister had a marriage cermony of life commitment to King David in the Biblical account. But David declared he loved Jonathan the most. So there are passages in the Bible showing that we are meant to be part of God's family, there is a place at his table.

Rev Kader explores the verses traditionally believed to be gay bashing passages. He finds that these verses in the orginal languages hold no condemnation for the modern Gay Christian.

The part that really stood out for me was how different Bibles translate the same word in different ways, eg MALAKOS - Effeminate (KJV, J.B Phillips,New American Standard, St Joseph New Catholic Edition)
Male Prostitutes (NIV),
Homosexual (LB, Amplified, NKJ),
Abusers (Interlinear),
Sexual Pervets (Revised),
Homosexual Perversion (NEB, Good News),

- The correct translation from the Greek means 'Soft' as in fine (Clothing) or uncertain affinity.

This book has certainly opened my eyes and given me a more steady work in my faith and I highly recommend it to anyone else who wants to know the truth behind the infamous 'Clobber' statements. Don't believe my word for it, please read it yourself and tell me what you think.
