photoStudent again, professional singer and Madame Arcati all in one, juggling fascinating outer and inner lives, would love to meet friends to join me (or us) on country walks, Saturday brunches at home and unconventional holidays. Humour, tease-ability and depth a must, fear of change a distinct disadvantage. Affirming messages and shameless flattery always welcome.

Hello folks.

I'm re-reading this book for the fourth time, albeit a bit selectively this time round.

I feel it has some brilliant things to teach me, which are taking quite a long while to get anywhere near integrating.

Has anyone else on Out read this book? Are there any skills or awarenesses in particular that you've drawn from it? What has stayed with you most of all? Did it make sense to you?

Looking forward to your views and experiences...

Oops, a late-night typo, blame the whisky.

Of course, it's Eckhart. Sorry.

I've read the Power of Now and the associated book with the exercises in and found them to be incredibly helpful. The stuff that really sticks with me, and I use a lot in coaching, is about the fact that nothing ever happens in the future, it always happens NOW. So there's no point in worrying about it. Stay in the present. Stay in the Now. Deal with what's happening around you now, and plan for the future.

He also does some exercises to help refocus on where you are now - i.e. listening to all the sounds around you, focussing on what you can actually see, sensing what you can actually feel - all of those right at that moment. I do this sometimes when I'm getting stressed. Helps me centre.

The other thing I say to myself and clients when worrying about things is, "OK, right here, right now, in this moment, is anything actually wrong?" (i.e. am I breathing? Am I ill? Am I under attack? etc etc). Works wonders for rebalancing and centering.

I've also listened to his tapes. Very strange voice it has to be said, but quite therapeutic and meditative.....

Bit longer response than I'd planned initially - but there you have it! :-D

Haven't read this book. Hear its good and Oprah swears by it.

Have just read New Earth which is one of his latest books and I see from the website that he is comong to London on September.

Found New Earth a very good read and I am in the process of being in the hear and now rather than in my head!
