I and Wayne went clubbing in Gran Canaria on New Years Eve the holiday was spectacular to say the least! Then on 3rd Jan when we was both swimming enjoying the waves as they came, laughing with other people in the sea, when the worst possible thing happened. The current suddenly turned and whilst Wayne was originally about 10 yard from me turned into about 50, the current changed and swept him away, (however, I was not aware of this until something alerted me by my name but it wasn't Wayne). I put my thumbs up to signal to Wayne if he was ok, but he signed back no.
I knew straight away there was something wrong, and whilst swimming over there I realised he was on the verge of drowning. Meanwhile there were other people clearly in trouble and shouting for help. I got hold of Wayne and pulled him up from virtually under the water, however, then I went under (then I was worried). I had to think straight away of how I could get him out but also myself safely. I therefore told him to swim breast stroke and swim for himself and I will be beside him. We did for as few seconds but the current was very strong and you could feel the pull. I saw Wayne swimming then decided to go and get another guy who was in trouble. Whilst letting Wayne go I swam to save another guy, but then unfortunately Wayne panicked as the tide he was swimming against seemed to be taking him back in. I then had to make the decision not to help the other guy as Wayne was further in trouble, I then had to tell the guy I couldn't help him as my mate needed me 1st.
I then told Wayne not to panic and to swim on his back and kick as hard as he could and make his way to shore but if this fails and if this fails ( the final task to help Wayne was to do the life saver move and make him lie on top of my chest, both on our backs with his head to one side and both of us kick but Wayne also use his arms but I hold his head steady so no slipping back in) he swam safely and as soon as I felt the floor, I told him stop swimming and walk, I shoved him further to shore to make sure he was ok. Then I turned around and saw a guy with his mate in more trouble, him and his mate were shouting help, help. I thought for what was about 3 seconds about them poor people in Portugal and my own safety but then about what if the guy goes under, then The final thought was he is with his mate and 2 guys helping are better than one. I went back in and saved the other guy by telling his mate to grab his one arms and I on the other arm and together we will swim. As soon as I could feel the floor I said for all of us to stand then drag him to safety. We all did just that and we together literally fog marched him to the sand. (HOW BLOODY DRAMATIC EH)? The current was unbelievably strong and I was seriously worried that we wouldn't get out alive.

I am struggling with the word here that my mates are insisting I am, so I pose the question: what do you think?
