saw a small peaceful rally on students today near where i live in brighton earlier in the day.

then came home at 5pm to find army of riot police had created a human wall blocking off two main roads to prevent any students or anyone getting through. the stance of these policemen and women in full helmet, truncheon and riot apparell was intimidating so say the least, and there was simply no agravation towards them being shown except by a few students sneering at a policemen while he read in a van.

i asked a student why were their so many policemen, vans and barking police dogs? he told me that students and protestors had been eating outside a cafe when the police appeared and herded them along the street. one student got mouthy with police and 3 policemen knelt on him.

i was shocked at the heavy tactics of the police. the only protestor who was endangering people's lives appears to have been the one that threw a fire extinguisher at a london protest, and he has duly been sentenced.

if a peaceful protest like in brighton today is met with an army of riot police waht is this saying about this present government?
