It's that time of year when I need to renew my house insurance (buildings & contents).

For a few years now I've been with Sainsbury, and they have always proved to be competitively priced.
I also like that they don't expect you to say how much it would cost to rebuild your house then penalise you if you get it wrong, they just cover based on house type/size/location - much more customer-friendly. They do contents in a similar way rather than expecting you to know the precise new value of your entire contents and then refuse to pay out if you get it slightly wrong.

So this year I get my renewal quote through, £366 this year (including that ghastly insurance premium tax con thingy).

That includes contents, building, personal belongings, home emergency and legal expenses, so all in all is not too bad.

But I thought I shoudl still shop around anyway.

By chance Worst Direct with whom I have the misfortune to bank sent me a home insurance blurb so I got an online quote from them - £480 for the same thing, so needless to say they will NOT be getting my custom.

However, does anyone have any particular good recommendations for good insurers they'd recommend?
Thought I'd ask as it might save me the usual checking with dozens of places this time round...

Thanks in advance!
