photoIt lies not in our power to love or hate, For will in us is over-rul'd by fate. When two are stript long ere the course begin, We wish that one should lose, the other win; The reason no man knows; let it suffice, What we behold is censur'd by our eyes. Where both deliberate, the love is slight: Who ever lov'd, that lov'd not at first sight.

I have had moderate hypertension for a number of years, despite being relatively fit and well.

So me and my doctor have decided that I start taking medication to bring it down as my age is against me. So I have started on Rampiril which relexes the ateries.

I have not really noticed changes except perhaps a bit of dizzyness at first which I was warned about.

But one thing I have noticed is that when doing vigourous cardio exercise my maximum comfortable heart rate seems to have dropped from 172 to 162 bpm. That may not seem much but to me this is significant as I have been wearing heart monitors for a few years to aid my excercise regime so I know what is normal for me.

Is this to be expected?

Ramipril is an ACE inhibitor, as opposed to a beta-blocker. I used to be given propranolol for a while when younger which was like a giant hand grabbing me and making me sleep for a while.

I am now on a low dose of lisinopril but that doesn't make me tired. That's an ACE inhibitor too.
