A decision as whether patients will be able to 'top-up' their NHS health care with private care is due today. Currently depending on which region you live in or which NHS trust you fall under you may be excluded from NHS treatment if you sought to 'top-up'. Again this was another postcode lottery as with other public services.

After national outcries against the inconsistencies of individual NHS trust's and government reforms especially a review of how quickly NICE license new drugs a review was ordered.

It is highly hoped that the ban will be lifted and a system set up to 'regulate' how this can be implemented.

About time is all I can say, why should people in fact taxpayers who have paid for the NHS be told in there time of need that they can't utilise other facilities/options that will help them recover especially when it has proven to show that in some cases it actually frees up much needed NHS services sooner than if the patient had just been treated solely on the NHS.

In a world when new advances in medicine are made everyday as well as in the way we lead our life should we not continue to have a choice and more rightly a say in our healthcare.

Any thought's, comments or anyone actually had experiences and would like to share?
