Exercise Balls: do they work?

As I had nothing better to do this afternoon, I got my exercise ball out of it's box and inflated it and (yet again) tried the various exercise positions you're supposed to be able to do. Whilst I can (sort of) do most of them, I find it extremely hard to actually stay on top of the ball. Is there a knack to this or am I doomed to failure? |

the whole benefit of the balls is that use your muscles to balance as well doing the exercise you are doing. |
