I must admit I love this. My family have always done genealogy and its sort of weak form of ancestor worship but I think it is great there is popular questioning of who we are and where we come from.

There is a Genealogy Roadshow going round the country and it was just in Preston, Liverpool, London etc.

I even thought about doing the DNA testing of your genes to see where you are from. Its a little expensive but hey.......its a hobby.

Anyone done DNA tests? Or back more than 7 generations?

Interesting ,Im planning on doing the DNA stuff myself. I did some research within my family and turns out that my ancestors belonged to the warrior clan serving the King(something in lines of a Japanese Samurai). What freaked me out was they were Naga worshippers(read Snake worshippers) and would lay their lives for the King. Still, snakes freak me out!

i was asked if i would participate in (and co-fund with a group of other distantly related people) a DNA test.. i think, if i got the gist of it, to potentially identify the inherited DNA from one particular part of my family tree.

i havent swabbed as yet... as i think the idea has fallen on deaf ears elsewhere.

I have enjoyed the BBC2 series.

How interesting! I have some central european mixture ethnic german/latvian/lithuanian/polish which has always been glossed over which I know is sort of war crimes related - although the Soviets Branded all nationalist facisct collaborators ........but even so!

anyway look forward to hearing about Natasha Keplinsky, Ian McKellan, Graham Norton, etc.
