The Term "Barebacking"...

See, now I always thought this was a gay-related word as I'd NEVER heard any straight person use it.....until the other day.

I was watching an ad for safe sex, and a load of lads chatting to one another going across a field to play footy when one asks the other "can I have my condom back?" and the other one gives it to him. He then says "ah, too bad mate, maybe next time" to which the lad responds "oh no, we had sex we just didn't use a jonnie". A third lad then pipes up and says "what, you did it bareback?"

Now, am I the only person to be surprised at this? The ad was great and really hit home the idea that it's uncool to not wear a condom - first decent teen sex ad I've seen in AGES, but do young, straight lads use bareback or have they stolen our word???

i think the word comes from horse riding, basically you ride with out protection - my mum and sisters have 5 horses and i grew up on and around horses and ive heard the phrase since i was about 5 or 6 years old.................

now as a gay adult...........can you imagine how weird it is to hear your mum say - are you riding bareback today!!!!!!!!!
